Abstract More than 50 cities across Europe have been designed as the European capitals of culture for one year since launch this programme in 1985. Through organisation different cultural events, gives selected accessibility to generate significant and socio-economic advantages, addressing their long-term regeneration revitalisation better competitiveness thereof. Several had gained status during urban shrinkage, process where a population loss is caused by local difficulties. Therefore, supreme goal such certainly reurbanisation based on economic performance. The capital –culture-led – perfectly fits with solutions problems shrinking cities. aim paper analyse has an impact trends Before analysis, theoretical link between concept made. cases are from 1985-2017, preserve 5-year threshold, adequate most recent demographic trends. obtained results analysis show that majority entered after culture.
